About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

"SETTER ON POINT" CAST AFTER MODEL BY JULES MOIGNIEZ
Patinated bronze, signed in naturalistic base "J. Moigniez"
Item # 902JBP02L

An exquisitely cast bronze sculpture of "Setter on Point" by Jules Moigniez, it is an early lifetime cast and remains in exquisite original condition. Typical of Jules Moigniez, it is a remarkably precise model with attention to details shown in every aspect of the cast - the long and chaotic hair of the dog flows naturally and presents as a thin coat with great depiction of his muscular body and anatomical intricacies.  It is a sensitive subject that captures the dog's natural curiosity, his nose pointed into the air as if he has just caught a scent in the breeze.  The base is finely detailed with flowing foliage and is signed in his typical scrolling script "J. Moigniez".  Noteworthy is the silky high gloss original patina, beautifully preserved under waxes and simply glowing throughout.

Measurements: 9 5/8" H x 14 5/8" W x 5 1/8" D
