ART DECO AMBOYNA, BRASS AND GOATSKIN DRESSING VANITY
French, circa 1930s; unmarked
Item # 111GPK03J
A rich and wonderful design from the Art Deco period, this dressing table features a large circular mirror rising above a stepped surface hosting a pair of hand-dovetailed drawers dressed in lacquered goatskin with gilt stenciling around original stepped brass knobs, these flanking a thick glass shelf inset into the sides of the drawers; the silhouette of the curved supports finishes the hidden portion of the circular mirror profile, the front edge of the curve set with a square brass highlight. The whole form is raised over a cupid's bow footing with brass toe caps. The quality is self-evident with vibrant and rich materials, exquisite craftsmanship and excellent finishing.
