"FACE OFF" LAMINATED BENTWOOD CENTER TABLE
Designed by Frank Gehry for Knoll Studio in 1990, table dated 1998 | branded to the underside
Item # 204VCP27A
A clever design using laminated strips of hard white maple in a curling bentwood ribbon-like pattern surrounding a solid maple center column to raise a 40" diameter top of tempered clear glass, this table was designed by Frank Gehry in 1990. He said his inspiration was the unexpected tensile strength of apple crates he would climb on in his youth. The use of bentwood materials as his primary working medium resulted in wholly unique and quickly recognizable series of designs, most notably in his "Hat Trick" chairs which pair beautifully with the table. This table is signed on the underside with a deeply branded signature by Gehry and the Knoll trademark. The table rests over plastic guides on the feet.
Measurements: 29" H x 40" diameter
Condition Report:
Light scuffing and wear to the glass top. Minor discolorations and use indicators to the wood, overall remaining in very good original condition. Sturdy, stable and very attractive.
