LOUIS XVI STYLE CARVED TEAL POLYCHROMED DAYBED
Stamped twice to underside "L. BONTEMPS PARIS"

A finely carved daybed in the Louis XVI taste by the Parisian tapissier L. Bontemps, the daybed features openly pegged tenon-mortised construction beneath a very early polychromed teal painted surface that is beautifully worn and patinated. The uprights on either end feature pyramidal finials with acanthus relief decoration over molded rails. The entire form rests over tapered fluted legs.

Condition: Estate-found upholstery left on the daybed, torn and discolored throughout; reupholstery is required. Extensive surface wear and rubbing to the early painted surface throughout. Original iron L-bracket hardware to support bed frame. Original through-bolts, some receiving nuts for the bolts to thread into replaced (one is a modern nut). Sturdy and tight when assembled.
