FRENCH NEOCLASSICAL CARVED AND PAINTED BEECHWOOD SETTEE
Circa late 19th century
Item # 007CPB30K
This fantastic 19th century settee is carved in the taste of the Louis XVI period with the typical fluted legs, cabriolet arm supports, and simple molded frame. The frame is beautifully carved with tasteful floral bouquets in the crest, a squared relief carving in the aprons and inset rosettes in the knees, overall remaining relatively free of embellishment in the early worn beige painted surfaces highlighted with gilt. It retains a very attractive gray damask that remains comfortable and in overall "fair-to-good" condition (minor flaws). The rich surface and attractive lines add much needed texture to the modern interior.
Note, we may still have two matching pairs of arm chairs available in the shop en suite with this settee. Please contact us for details or search our shop inventory if these interest you.
