About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

SET OF 4 LUDWIG MIES VAN DER ROHE "MR10" CHAIR FOR KNOLL
Unmarked | circa 1970s
Item # 205XPW14

These iconic MR10 dining chairs designed by Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe and manufactured by Knoll International are cherished for their sleek design, high quality of metal work and overall comfort. This particular group of chairs was acquired as a set of 6 from a local estate and one that was labeled was sold off individually while one that is missing its leather is being offered by itself (see shop inventory for it); the remaining four chairs are being offered together. All chroming and leather is original other than the leather lacing, which we replaced in-house.

Measurements: 31" H x 17 5/8" H to seat x 26" D x 19" W

Condition Report:
All chrome has been polished in-house, but there remains trace oxidization and tarnish, light scuffing to the metal and other use indicators; overall the frames present beautifully; original leather with significant wear and discoloration as well as an overall conforming to the chair from decades of use; the leather remains perfectly serviceable and is quite lovely; leather lacing is replaced; one chair had a partial Knoll International label but that example has sold.
