PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE FOSSILIZED MARBLE AND BRONZE TWO-TIER GUERIDONS
France, circa late 19th to early 20th century
Item # 407FCP18S
A very fine pair of two-tier gueridon tables in the Louis XVI taste, the bronze elements raise fossilized black marble slabs for the top and medial surfaces - in one table, the fossilized remains of a pre-historic shell are showcased near the edge. The molded klismo legs curve dramatically in the top and curl into acanthus wrapped animal paw feet raised over castors while the stretcher comes together in the center to raise a fruit finial surrounded by a foliate rosette.
Measurements: 29 1/2" H x 27 3/8" diameter
Condition Report:
Moderate scuffs/scratches/surface history to marble from use over time; polished bronze with some discoloration and oxidization as expected; sturdy and stable. A very fine presentation.
