About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

PAIR OF REGENCY INLAID INDIAN ROSEWOOD CHIFFONIERS WITH BRASS GRILLS
London, circa 1810

44 1/8" H x 11 7/8" D x 29 3/4" W

An elegant pair of Indian rosewood chiffoniers of fine quality and excellent proportion. Their shallow depth of just twelve inches allows them to fit comfortably in narrow halls or smaller rooms where space is limited. Each is composed of a rectilinear cabinet surmounted by a raised shelf supported on ebonized reeded columns with mirrored backs. The doors enclose a silk-lined interior backed in green and overlaid with brass grillework, opening to adjustable shelving within. The tops are simple and conforming, with a slight projection along the front and sides. Both rest on turned ebonized baluster feet that echo the form of the upper columns.

Condition: Historical surfaces with later polishing, both with minor blemishes and surface history. Rubbing and wear as expected. Silk is replaced, overall remaining in good condition. Two working keys included. Mirrors appear to be original, though the backboards have not been removed to examine the glass; both mirrors have silvering losses. Very fine. Ready to place.
