About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

DANISH MODERN TEAK BREAKFAST TABLE BY PETER HVIDT AND ORLA MOLGAARD-NIELSEN
With John Stuart label affixed, branded with France & Daverkosen to underside; circa 1950s
Item # 109TUZ29P

A rather rare and very fine breakfast table by Peter Hvidt and Ørla Molgaard-Nielsen for France & Daverkosen circa the 1950s, it is an incredibly elegant table designed entirely in solid teak. The circular top is beveled around the edges to lighten the profile, this floating over four solid turned brass balls raised on sculpted tapering legs locked in place with bow-tie supports; all of these elements break down to allow for safe and simple transport.

Designed for the breakfast nook where space is a premium, it is typical of the design power duo Hvidt and Nielsen in its unusually high quality of craftsmanship and overall richness. The table was retailed by John Stuart and retains the original label to the underside as well as the France & Daverkosen brand.

Measurements: 42 1/2" diameter x 28 3/8" H

Condition Report:
Partial burn mark/stain to the top, old scuffs; table has been re-oiled and remains in very fine original condition.
