"POINTER DOG" BRONZE SCULPTURE AFTER MODEL BY LOUIS RICHE
Signed "L. Riche", Stamped "BRONZE FRANCE"
Item # 130108NQP12
A superb sculpture of a pointer dog after a model by Louis Riché, the present example was probably cast at some point between the first and second World War. Executed lost-wax in bronze, it is finished in a greenish-brown acid patina and sealed with beeswax. Typical of Riché, the precision of the cast and the detail of the model are above reproach with the tension of her muscles and pent-up energy captured in her pose. From her nose through her tail is almost a perfect line, her nose pressed forward with an expression of wary curiosity. The naturalistic base is signed "L. Riche" with faint stamp impressions beneath of "BRONZE" and "FRANCE".
Measurements: [marble base] 13 1/2" x 4 3/4" [figure] 14" nose to tail x 9 1/2" high x approximately 3" deep - total height including the marble base is 10 3/4"
Condition Report: Very light patina wear to sculpture, including light wear on edge of tail. Very small chip to right edge of base.
