MID-CENTURY BENTWOOD SPINDLE-BACK NO. 8 ARM CHAIRS
Designed by Helge Sibast for Sibast Møbler, unmarked, circa 1960s
Item # 006AYQ14P-1
Designed by Helge Sibast in 1953, the Sibast No. 8 exhibits a distinctly original scissor form with a cantilevered seat; the steam bent laminated armchair curves around the sitter, supported over a series of tapered spindles that continue below the seat into the rear stretcher. The front arms taper into pegs that support the front edges of the crest rail, these formed of beautiful sculpted teak, the front leg tenoned neatly into the rear leg at the joint with the seat bar. Three bolts run through the seat bar and lock the projecting seat into the frame. The seats are covered in a plush blue velour. The surfaces are beautifully patinated.
This chair is being sold individually, but we may have a second chair available. Please see our shop inventory or contact us for details.
